What is Known: Diagramming & Empathic Design
When I went to study with Odyssey Works, a theatre company that produces intensive productions for an audience of one, I learned how to diagram the emotional, psychological and experiential arcs of an experience.
To me, it is a way of grounding the intangible, of kissing the hologram, of plating the stars.
An easier way to think of it:
What shape comes to mind when you hold space for someone to have an experience?
What shape does their trajectory take?
Is it a circle, a straight line, a jagged edge, a wave?
The imagery/shape that most resonates with me is the spiral. Iād be curious what yours is, dear reader. Let me know.
